A caterpillar climbs a tree to commence his epiphany/ on a leaf made his cocoon a custom self made womb/ but a breeze blew his old life away with nothing left to say/ a broken off white shell and down to earth he fell// A bittersweet ending chalked full of a better life's potential/ The butterfly comes out of his cocoon does it all have to end so soon// The wind always blows hardest against you when you do your best/ the wind still blows in his face looking for a calm in this place/ staring at the unexplored sky he searches for a new kind of life/ to blow these clouds away the Sun to pull him through today// His new found power seems bizarre never knew he could travel so far/ showing off his brand new wings and the new life that it brings/ His wings have made him worry free/ but time has gone too quickly/ soon all this newness will be lost/ hanging like an albatross// butterfly butterfly butterfly butterfly away// I can't make sense of this from my gold chrysalis// The details we overlook today will be missed tomorrow he'd say/ the one thing that he truly misses are the simple butterfly kisses.
